Every individual has their own opinion and views on gambling as it is becoming the world’s favourite pass time. Research indicates that gambling, more than any other pass time is primarily aimed towards males. In stereotype female fashion, I was shocked that the article seemed somewhat surprised that women had taken an interest in gambling and it appeared sexist to assume that women are ‘unfit’ to gamble.
The increase and success of online gambling and in particular bingo is down to the fact that it has provided the opportunity for millions to actively engage in pleasure maximizing activities from the comfort of their own home, with the chance to win big cash prizes.
This method of gambling appeals more to women because of the easy access and availability of gambling resources. However for men, whilst online gambling still holds its convenience the atmosphere and competition is lost which seems to have higher importance.
Historically it appears that women act as a threat to men and gambling operators because it is assumed that women do not place all their winnings into future bets which is simply not how gambling is seen to work.
