The last thing bingo halls need now are fires burning down their once bustling building. As land based bingo halls are hit with economic difficulties and smoking ban legislation, on former hall was the scene of a vicious fire. The hall in Windsor was formerly known as the Bingo Rama Palace and was located on Dufferin Avenue.
The fire allegedly started in the electrical room of the building but the damage of the blaze is still relativley unknown. Firefighters battled the fire which broke out on Saturday, and had to remove part of the patio roof to beat the fire. Thankfully no one was hurt in the blaze.
The rise of online bingo forced several land based hall to shut. Other regulars were forced out because of the smoking ban introduced to all public areas last year. The online market is now believed to be worth around £600 million and is rapidly growing, with player numbers doubling in a year.
